We regularly host guest speaker events that are open to the public.

The UChicago International Development Society is a student organization at UChicago devoted to discussing development topics (such as inequality, education, climate change, healthcare) about various regions from a political, economic, and public policy perspective.

In addition to our weekly cohort meetings, we host regular guest speaker events, engaging with experts from a wide range of fields.

Professor Michael Kremer

Professor Michael Kremer is the winner of the 2019 Nobel Prize in Economics, and the Founding Director of the Development Innovation Lab.

Professor James Robinson

Professor James Robinson is the co-author of Why Nations Fail, and the director of the Pearson Institute for Global Conflict Studies.

Woochong Um

Woochong Um is the Director-General of the Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department at the Asian Development Bank.
